Hump Locations

So where exactly are the 11 road humps in Ickleford going to be? Below is a summary based on detailed drawings provided by Highways at www.icklefordpc.com/GA_002_-_Turnpike_Ln.pdf and www.icklefordpc.com/GA_003_-_Arlesey_Rd.pdf.

The humped zebra crossing was installed the week beginning 15 February and we have already received many comments from residents on Upper Green and surrounding areas who are now woken up by Brookers and other lorries which have to travel through the village every morning in the early hours. Although the remaining 10 humps were due to be installed week beginning 8 March, this will be rescheduled for sometime in the near future.

There is so much evidence that strongly suggests the whole process that has led to this decision has been biased, misleading, and inaccurate. However it takes time to process so much information. Therefore we appeal to all supporters to write to the IPC immediately at mail@icklefordpc.com and CC us at hump@mostsimply.com asking them to use their powers and influence to ensure that installation of these humps is delayed. I am sure that we can agree that the damage to residents, local businesses, motorists, the wider community, environment, and the IPC will be far greater if they are installed and then removed later due to public pressure.

NOTE 4.1 of Parish Plan Public Meeting Minutes on 8 Oct 2008 where the public were told “Humps that go right across the road were considered. These would reduce vehicle speeds but are not bus friendly so were discounted”. So why are ramps being installed now? Apparently because the Highways experts didn't measure sufficiently to realise the road was too narrow for cushions! These are the experts who came up with 11 road humps as the only viable traffic calming solution for Ickleford.
